What is a HARApad?
In short, a HARApad is a lightweight pad designed to help protect your body against the effects of heat and electromagnetic radiation emitted by laptop computers, tablets, or cell phones.
The name HARApad is two-fold. It is both an acronym for the product’s function (Heat And Radiation Attenuating pad) and in Japanese the word hara refers to the body’s core area, which is what the original laptop HARApad protects.
The HARApad for laptops allows you to enjoy a sturdy surface for your laptop while relaxing on the couch or on the go. The HARApad not only helps protect your body from electromagnetic radiation, it prevents overheating while your computer is on your lap. The HARApad’s flat surface allows your laptop’s own dissipation channels to permit air to freely flow out of the computer.
Our cell phone product provides a shield between your cell phone and your body when placing your phone in your pocket or bra. The tablet HARApad provides a beautiful leather case for your iPad that also protects you from EMF.

How does it work?
The HARApad uses commercially available, lead- and tungsten-free, military-grade electromagnetic radiation shielding materials to attenuate the extremely low frequency (ELF) radiation emitted by laptop computers. The shielding creates a path of least resistance for the radiation to travel, allowing it to flow through the HARApad, instead of your body, and then back to the laptop to complete the path away from your body.

Why Do I need a HARApad?
First, laptop computers emit electromagnetic radiation and harmful heat that, when placed on your lap, go directly into your body.
Why is this something you need to be concerned with? Here are a few reasons why:
Electromagnetic Radiation
Radiation is energy that is transmitted in the form of waves or particles. We’re exposed to extremely low frequency (ELF) radiation every day from sources like portable media devices, computers, mp3 players, televisions and even power lines.
However, a laptop is among the few electrical devices we use in direct contact with our body, consequently exposing us to the full effects of the radiation.
Many health professionals recommend limiting ELF exposure to 1-3 milliGauss (mG).- Laptops often emit between 75-175 mG while running everyday tasks – clearly a lot more than you should be exposed to.
The problem with ELF electromagnetic radiation is that it has been linked to diseases like leukemia, Alzheimer’s disease, infertility and electromagnetic sensitivity.
